Every year we spend hundreds of pounds on heating and experts suggest as much as 84% of yearly bills are made up from the boiler. This highlights the importance of having an energy efficient eco boiler to make a big difference on your consumption, reducing the amount you spend.

Why do I need an eco boiler?

If your current boiler is inefficient, you should be looking to replace it with an efficient gas condensing system.

Research shows that by doing this you can save a third on annual fuel bills and cut carbon emissions by 12% too.

So why will an eco boiler reduce your bills? Energy efficient boilers are able to recover the maximum amount of heat created, ensuring less goes to waste. In fact, condensing boilers can recover over 90% of heat, whilst inefficient boilers will have efficiencies as little as 70%.

There are thousands of homeowners with low-rated boilers in the UK (level G on the efficiency scale). You can save up to £300 a year by switching to an energy efficient replacement.

Gas condensing eco boiler

Condensing boilers are the most efficient heating systems on the market. In this type of boiler there is an extra heat exchanger so more of the hot gas can be used. By the time waste gas exits the system it’s at a much lower temperature than before. When operating at optimal efficiency, water vapour condenses back into a liquid, releasing the latent heat of vaporisation.

By replacing your inefficient boiler there’s the opportunity to save hundreds of pounds every year on energy bills. The boiler also accounts for around 84% of carbon dioxide emissions in a gas heated home. An A-rated boiler will also improve your heating controls, helping you to warm your property much more efficiently.

First of all you should consider if you’re eligible for a grant for the new eco boiler. Visit our boiler grant page for more information on this.

You may also consider a loan under the Government’s Green Deal scheme, paying back the loan with money saved on your monthly energy bills.

However, if you want to see the savings straight away, pay for the installation yourself and reduce your energy bills by up to £300 annually. The installation costs can be paid back within five years too because of this huge saving you’ll make.
